Product Details

This textured, Sterling Silver box (or “Casket”, as referred to by Omega), accompanied one the brand’s most premium offerings of the late 1950s - the Omega Constellation. Originally introduced in 1952, following the the highly-successful "Centenary", the Omega Constellation was designed as a luxury dress-watch, manufactured to achieve Chronometer status by the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres (or COSC).

The Casket is described as “entierement guilloche”, in the brand’s marketing materials of the time, with full texture on the case-sides and lid. This, contrasted by polished edges and a recessed Ω, at the front.

Where this silver Omega box differs from typical examples is its condition. Often removed soon after purchase, this example retains its wooden inserts. As with many brands during the period, removal for use a cigarette box was encouraged and promoted.

As with the box itself, the wood remains in very good condition, with small signs of wear consistent with age. Hallmarks can be found on the left side of the box, including one from Omega and another showing the high quality 925 (92.5%) Sterling Silver that was used, strengthened by the “Made in Switzerland” text on its base.
